Together and apart these artists challenge us to meditate upon the multiple simultaneous meanings of patterns and sign and the relationship they create between the ancient and the modern, the historic and the present. Their work asks us to consider how the concept attached to a familiar sign morphs as it is modified, and how new connections and narratives from co-opted signs and symbols can occur when an ancient or historic form is adapted to a new media. Weaving both formal and tangential threads these artists create a ‘third’ space in which ideas of history, the infinite and identity collide to explore the context of our physical and mental environments.
